About  Iberostar Gibara

At Iberostar Gibara Resort, you will find luxurious suites and rooms designed to provide you with an unbeatable night's sleep. Equipped with all the comforts and carefully decorated, they combine the charm of the old houses and the colonial palaces with the warmth of the Caribbean.

Discover Gibara! Ordoño This magnificent three-storey building is full of eclectic style and once belonged to the merchant Felipe Ordoño Díaz, who lived there with his wife, Isabel camps. Built between 1926 and 1927, it was home to numerous state agencies for years, including the famous Hotel Gibara, which the locals ended up renaming as Hotel Ordoño.

Arsenita The hotel Arsenita at the Iberostar Gibara is located in the historic centre of the city, a few metres from the Central Park. The house was erected in the 1920s of the last century and belonged to Maria Arsenia Martínez Cruz, a village teacher, better known as Arsenita.

This hotel is perfect for traveling to Cuba with children or with a group of friends. These days, the hotel has recreated the family atmosphere with only 12 double rooms. Plaza Colón Built as a house at the beginning of the 20th century, next to the emblematic Plaza de Colón, this building was home to several different state agencies.

The decoration pays homage to the former relationship of the founders of Gibara with the sea and the shipping activity, which was the reason behind the creation of offices of shipowners and naval units. The tranquility that breathes in its patios, its halls and its 14 rooms make Plaza Colón an ideal choice.

Gibara, Holguín

Gibara

For a long time this was the main arrival point from the sea to the whole of the north coast of the eastern provinces, turning it into a prosperous area. This coastal town, known as the Villa Blanca (white town), still boasts today the most remarkable examples of colonial architecture in the province of Holguín. Its two most important museums are the Colonial Museum, placed in a great neoclassic house built in 1872; and the Museum of Natural Sciences, an exhibition of one of the most complete collections of day time and twilight butterflies of the Antilles.

Bariay, Holguín

Bariay National Monument Park

The Bariay National Monument Park was erected in 1992 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Columbus’ arrival at this spot in Holguín. A group of monuments created by the Holguín sculptress Caridad Ramos recalls the landing of Admiral Christopher Columbus on Cuban soil on 28 October 1492. The group of sculptures entitled "Encuentro" (Encounter) blends enormous Greco-Roman style columns into the natural surroundings to mark the spot of the historic landing. There are also replicas of a Spanish fort and native village, as well as an archeological museum.
