The Topes de Collantes Natural Park is located in Escambray Mountain Range, which has a height of 800 meter above the sea level. The Pico San Juan is the highest one, with 1140 meters height. This paradise of natural beauty, of great botanical and ecological interest, is around 19 km from Trinidad. It counts with a natural protected beautiful landscape which also has a high scientific value for the botanic and the ecology, where inhabit numerous endemic species of the flora and fauna. One of the most visited attractions in Topes de Collantes is it spa. A touristic center for resting and health visited by patients who go looking for anti-stress treatments, rehabilitation, massages. Another of the most important actractions are hiking and mountaineering. The Salto del Carbuní is the most popular route among the visitors of the area, flowing through the café plantations for two and a half kilometers, watching traditional houses, cliffs and ending up in a beautiful waterfall. Another of the best-known ones it Vegas Grandes, which finishes in Salto de Soroa, a spectacular puddle where you can refresh yourself by the end of the tour.

The National Park “Topes de Collantes” belongs to the second highest mountain range in Cuba – the "Escambray". This paradise of natural beauty, of great botanical and ecological interest, is around 19 km (12 miles) from Trinidad. At 800 meters above sea level you will find many endemic plant and animal species here, including wild orchids and several species of butterflies, all surrounded by pine, teak, cedar, bamboo and eucalyptus trees. In addition, there are many birds and invertebrates. Go out on trails to see the local flora and fauna, swim in natural pools and waterfalls, and explore any of its several caves. If you want to escape the heat of the valley, this is the right place to be. The climate of the central mountain zone in Cuba has much cooler temperatures: lows of about 16 º C, highs of 25 °C and a relative humidity of 85%.

Salto de Caburní Waterfall
Salto de Caburní is an impressive waterfall that is at just a few kilometres away from Trinidad, inside Topes Collantes National Park and it is the distinctive symbol of the Escambray Trinitario. This waterfall is approximately 64 metres high and it springs among the rocks to end at a crystal-clear water puddle. After going through a path full of beautiful plants and different species of animals, we arrive in Salto de Caburní Waterfall. Daredevils love to jump from the top of the cascade. It is advisable to avoid visiting this incredible waterfall between march and may because the lack of water in this season won’t allow you to enjoy this area’s beauty at its fullest.
